Overview-CAMP

Overview
Two girls
  • Camp GOTR is a high-energy, confidence-building experience designed to help girls strengthen emotional resilience, friendships, and self-confidence through movement and meaningful connection.

Perfect for spring break, winter break, summer programs, and community enrichment opportunities, Camp GOTR is a 5-day program that meets approximately 4 hours per day and is designed for girls in grades 3–8.

Unlike a traditional sports camp, Camp GOTR blends physical activity with evidence-based social and emotional learning in a way that is fun, engaging, and deeply impactful. Each day includes interactive lessons, movement activities, games, workouts, creative expression, team-building, and opportunities for personal reflection and discussion.

    Camp themes may include:

    • Friendship and healthy relationships
Girls explore what it means to choose healthy friendships, recognize friendship “boosters” and “breakers,” communicate effectively, and practice standing up for themselves and others.

    • Emotions and emotional resilience
Girls learn that all emotions are normal and important. Through activities focused on emotional awareness, breathing techniques, movement, and “pressing pause,” girls build practical tools for managing stress, frustration, anxiety, and other big feelings.

    • Confidence and self-worth
Girls identify their strengths, practice positive self-talk, and learn how healthy confidence grows through courage, perseverance, kindness, and trying hard things.

    • Balance and well-being
Girls reflect on the different parts of their lives — emotions, relationships, activities, physical health, and personal interests — and explore ways to create balance and care for themselves holistically.

Throughout the week, physical movement is intentionally woven into every lesson. Girls participate in running games, interval workouts, stretching, team challenges, and active play that reinforce the day’s emotional and social themes. The goal is not competition, but helping girls connect movement with confidence, emotional health, and joy.

Camp GOTR creates a safe and encouraging environment where girls are seen, heard, celebrated, and challenged to grow. Participants leave camp with new friendships, stronger coping skills, increased confidence, and practical tools they can use long after camp ends.

Fin-Aid - Camp

Financial Aid

Financial Assistance Available

At Girls on the Run Piedmont, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.

Through our Pay What You Can model, families are invited to choose a registration amount that works for their situation. No girl is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.

Financial assistance may help cover program registration, Camp GOTR fees, and in some cases additional needs such as athletic shoes or sports bras.

Our goal is to remove barriers so every girl has access to the confidence-building, connection, and emotional support that Girls on the Run provides.

If cost is a concern, we encourage families and community partners to reach out. Questions about financial assistance can be directed to program@gotrpiedmont.org.

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

What does the program fee include?

Although the cost per participant exceeds $400, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we’re able to offer the program for just $175. Your registration fee covers everything needed to make Girls on the Run a fun, safe, and meaningful experience for girls and volunteers alike. This includes:

  • Comprehensive GOTR curriculum and lesson materials
  • Activity sheets, lap counters, and other practice essentials
  • A GOTR program t-shirt
  • Entry to the season-ending 5K, including a bib and finisher’s medal
  • A healthy snack at every practice

We’re committed to creating a program that not only empowers girls but also builds a supportive and joyful community for everyone involved! 🌟

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don’t let cost hold you back! At Girls on the Run, we’re dedicated to ensuring every girl has the opportunity to participate. Thanks to our amazing donors and community supporters, scholarships are available to any family in need. We can even provide running shoes and attire if needed.

When registering, simply select the financial aid option. On the final page, you’ll have the chance to enter an amount your family can comfortably afford. We kindly ask that you request only what you need so we can extend support to as many girls as possible. Let’s make this season unforgettable for every girl! 💖👟

When does the season begin?

Practices will begin the week of September 7, 2026.  The culminating event will be the 5K on November 15, 2026 The days/times varies by team location. Coaches will reach out to the teams prior to the start of the season for further details.  Any questions email program@gotrpiedmont.org or call 540-296-GOTR

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a participant for a season?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on the incredible generosity of donors to provide over $40,000 in program scholarships each year, ensuring that every girl can participate, regardless of financial barriers. Through our Team Possible program, you can make a lasting impact. For as little as $10/month, you can sponsor a girl this season and help transform her life. 💖👟
